**Daily Reading and Math Intervention Time: This is an additional designated time where students who are not   meeting grade level standards, are taught directly through scaffolding strategies within the class time period.

  • The first content area taught each morning will be ELD, and it will be followed by ELA.
  • HUSD Launching:  Structured Language Practice Routines.  Lessons for the First 15 Days of School.
  • Leveling ELD –first 45 minutes and no more than two proficiency levels.
  • Non -ELLs will receive Academic Language Development (ALD), which includes vocabulary development, literacy response, and writers’ workshop to develop academic language.
  • A process of , “I do, We do, and You do”, for all i.e. gradual release of learning will be used to ensure student engagement and mastery of grade level academic language.   

Collaboration Dates:  Please see attached schedule.  Please keep a binder with you minutes and email specific questions to individual support staff.

Please give me a clean copy of one week’s lesson plans by September 16.  Writers’ Workshop is part of the ELA/SLA and needs to be incorporated within those minutes, not separately, it must represented in your lesson plans within that time.  Please remember that your lesson plans need to be accessible to me at all times in the classroom.  Have them on your desk or in another visible area.

 

Basic Expectations:All classrooms …

  • Instruction needs to be transparent to the students at all times
  • Lesson objective correlated to the standard written on the board.
  • Focus walls need to be clearly set up
  • Standards posted or accessible to students
  • Productive group work  implemented through out the day
  • Follow the pacing guide schedules
  • Adhere to the instructional minutes presented per content area
